Time Evolution of the Precipitation Distribution in Experiment S1200
The amount of precipitation is small in the case of Experiment S1200. Although weak, eastward-propagating disturbances exist at mid-latitudes that are likely generated by baroclinic instabilities, and there are also vortex disturbances migrating from the equatorial region to mid- and high latitudes.
Animation 1: Time evolution of the precipitation distribution (W/m2) in Experiment S1200. The animation illustrates the time evolution for a 16-day period in conditions that are considered to be nearly in equilibrium.
