Time Evolution of the Vertical Mean Water Vapor Content in Experiment S1800

Animation 1 below illustrates the time evolution of the vertically integrated specific humidity (kg/kg) in Experiment S1800. An examination of the animation leads to the speculation that water vapor originating from the surface near 30° latitude north and south is transported to high latitudes. Unfortunately, this animation does not clearly indicate meridional water vapor transport. This discrepancy has not yet been fully examined, and a more detailed analysis of the water vapor budget is necessary.
