4. Results: Dusty Case b. Diurnal Changes of Horizontal Mean Fields
4.b.ii. Ground and surface temperature
Figure 12c shows the diurnal changes for
the vertical profiles of horizontal mean ground temperature,
horizontal mean surface temperature, and horizontal mean atmospheric
temperature at approximately 1.5 m on day 6 of the dusty
case. Compared to the dust-free case, amplitude of the diurnal change
of surface temperature is about 10 K smaller and surface temperature
is 5 K higher (Figure 3c).
Figure 12c: (Left panel) Diurnal change of the vertical profile
of horizontal mean ground temperature. Profiles are every 4 hours
beginning at 8:00 LT on day 6 of the dusty case. The number on each
line indicates local time. Vertical axis is normalized by the diurnal
skin depth. (Right panel) Diurnal changes of horizontal mean surface
temperature (red line) and atmospheric temperature (blue line) at
approximately 1.5 m every 1 hour on day 6.
